Fully sustainable: The Haffhus Hotel & Spa

Idyllically located in the seaside resort of Ueckermünde with a view of the island of Usedom, the Hotel & Spa Haffhus is the right address for beach lovers for whom a sense of responsibility and sustainability are important on vacation. The Haffhus is a pioneer in terms of sustainability: climate protection is taken seriously there and implemented ubiquitously.

Sustainability in all areas
The Haffhus is the first hotel complex in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - and one of only five hotels nationwide - to achieve GreenSign Level 5, the highest award of the sustainability seal for hotels. The reason for this is that sustainable measures are implemented in all hotel areas. Such as: Woodchip heating, charging stations for electric vehicles, installation of a photovoltaic system for self-sufficient energy supply, regional food, sustainable and plastic-free cosmetics and much more.

In the sustainable-certified Haffhus hotel complex, a total of over 70 showers were equipped with the ecowaterjet® water & energy saving system in 2022. Water consumption in the showers was thus reduced by 42%, which in turn leads to annual savings of around 1,100 m3 of water, 46,000 kWh of energy and 14 tons of CO2. The enormous savings meant that the investment paid for itself in around 4 months. Dirk Klein, Head of Sustainability & Digitalization at Haffhus, was particularly impressed by the shower comfort provided by ecowaterjet:

"Sustainability and climate protection are not only strived for at Haffhus, but also actually implemented. For example, through our completely self-sufficient and CO2-neutral power supply from renewable energy sources, active waste separation, charging stations for e-vehicles and focus on local value creation. In order to reduce water and energy consumption in the long term, we have tested various water-saving systems. The ecowaterjet from Rabmer convinced us not only because of the enormous savings, but above all because of the high shower comfort and a powerful water jet. This allows us to almost halve the water consumption in the showers with full comfort for the guests."
